Dr. Macdonnell began his dental career in 1994 after graduating from the University of British Columbia. He obtained his certification with the National Dental Examining Board of Canada and is licensed by the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia. He is also a member of the Canadian Dental Association and The Kelowna and District Dental Society.

Dr. Macdonnell upon graduation received recognition from the Academy of Operative Dentistry and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Dental Society for his high standard of care. He was an active member and former president of the Thompson Okanagan Tucker affiliated Study Club which specializes in the art and science of producing some of the finest gold work in the world for 12 years. He is certified in Cosmetic Botox Treatment by the Pacific Training Institute for Facial Aesthetics. In addition, he is a graduate and mentor of the Kois Center of Advanced Dentistry and is a member of The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists. Dr. Macdonnell is on Faculty with the University of British Columbia where he enjoys Volunteering as a Mentor for the General Practice Residency program at U.B.C. through the Gospel Mission as well as being a proud supporter of Mammas for Mammas providing free dental work for people in need.

He enjoys many recreational activities in the Okanagan including skiing, soccer, hockey and golf. As a community volunteer he has spent many hours coaching children in hockey and soccer.
