Hoppy Easter !
April is Oral Health Month. Your oral health plays a major role in your overall health and well being. There is a strong link between poor oral health and many systemic diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular, respiratory and brain diseases and even cancer. This year’s theme is Oral Health for Total Health. Oral diseases such as gum disease, tooth decay, oral cancer are still highly prevalent in Canada and worldwide and many can be prevented. Did you know that every year approximately 3,200 Canadians are diagnosed with oral cancer and 1,050 deaths occur. The survival rate is extremely low as oral cancer is often diagnosed very late. With early detection the survival rate can be greatly improved. It’s important to visit your dentist for regular cleanings and check-ups. Your dentist and their team have the knowledge, skills and technology to set you on the path towards better oral health and thus overall health.
